When: Sunday mornings, 10:30 am
Where: PDODC training grounds, Jenkins Reserve, Saints Rd, Salisbury
Equipment: A correct fitting soft collar or slip collar; a gentle leader can be used. A lead that is not too long and made preferably from cotton. Lots of treats to reward and encourage your dog during training. Remember not to feed your dog before training.
Aims: The aims of this class are to have a puppy/dog and handler that:
õ heels in the correct position
õ reinforces the verbal and hand signals for sit, stay and down positions
õ learn to circle left and right
õ learn exercise finish to teach recalls
õ heelwork is done at normal, slow and fast pace
Format: Learners is an extension of puppy class so handlers and dogs work in a circle.
Graduation: To graduate from Learners the dog should:
õ Heel on a loose lead.
õ Sit on Command.
õ Sit Stay – handler moves to the front of the dog and then returns around the dog.
