When:  Sunday mornings, 9:30 am

Where:  PDODC training grounds, Jenkins Reserve, corner Fenden and Saints Rds, Salisbury

Equipment:  A good fitting soft collar or slip collar; a gentle leader can be used. A lead that is not too long and made preferably from cotton. Treats to reward and encourage your dog during training. Remember to not feed your dog before training.

Aims:  The aims of this class are to have a dog and handler that:

õ heels in the correct position at three paces – slow, normal and fast:
õ stays at a distance of 2 metres
     –  sit stay (30 seconds)
     –  down stay (1 minute)
õ reinforce footwork & hand signals
õ weaving around dogs & people
õ left & right turns
õ dumbbell training – stage 1

õ stand for exam
õ attempt recall from 3 metres
õ left & right about turns
õ finishes

Graduation: To graduate from Class 2 the dog should:

õ Heel on a loose lead – good positions; correct hand signals; correct foot work; precise turns
õ Automatic sit – correct heel position
õ Steady sit & down stays
õ Recall at 3 metres – return to the dog – no finish
õ Stand for examination (with guidance)
õ Finish (with guidance)
