When:  Sunday mornings, 11:20 am

Where: PDODC training grounds, Jenkins Reserve, corner Fenden and Saints Rds, Salisbury

Equipment:  A good fitting soft or slip collar; a gentle leader can be used. A lead that is not too long and made preferably from cotton. Treats to reward and encourage your dog during training. Remember; do not feed your dog before training.

Aims:  The aims of this class are to have a dog and handler that:

õ heel in the correct heel position at three pacess – slow, normal and fast with precise footwork & turns
õ stays at a distance of 6 metres
     – sit stay (1 minute)
     – down stay (2 minutes)
õ correct stand for exam – at the end of the lead
õ finish as a separate exercise
õ weaving around dogs & handlers
õ left & right turns
õ attempt recall from 6 metres

õ change of position
õ figure eight
õ dumbbell training – Stage 2

Format:  Class Three handlers work their dogs in straight lines.

Graduation: To graduate from Class 3 the dog & handler demonstrates:

õ Heelwork on loose lead (left, right or both hands on lead)
õ Correct positions (sit, stand & down)
õ Precise foot work & turns
õ Stand for examination
õ Recall at 6 metres – return to the dog – no finish
õ Stays at 6 metres
   o Sit stay (1 minute)
   o Down stay (2 minutes)
   o Stays must be steady
