When: Sunday mornings, 10:20 am
Where: PDODC training grounds, Jenkins Reserve, corner Fenden and Saints Rds, Salisbury
Why: This is the Companion Dog Excellent training class and is for handlers who aspire to attain this title with their dogs.
Equipment: A good fitting soft collar or slip collar; a gentle leader can be used. A lead that is not too long and made preferably from cotton. A dumbbell.
Aims: The aims of this class are to have a dog and handler that:
õ heel free
õ drop on recall from a distance of at least 12 metres
õ retrieves a dumbbell on the flat
õ retrieves over a solid jump
õ stays with handler out of sight
sit stay (3 minutes)
down stay (5 minutes)
õ broad jump
OR
õ distance control from stand down, sit, come, finish from about 5 metres
õ stand for free exam from at least 5 metres
Format: Training for the Companion Dog Excellent Title.
