
When: Sunday mornings, 11:15 am
Where: PDODC training grounds, Jenkins Reserve, corner Fenden and Saints Rds, Salisbury
Equipment: A good fitting soft collar or slip collar; a gentle leader can be used. A lead that is not too long and made preferably from cotton. A dumbbell. Treats to reward and encourage your dog during training. Remember to not feed your dog before training.
Aims: The aims of this class are to have a dog and handler that:
õ can do a recall from 10 metres return to the dog no finish
õ stays at a distance of at least 10 metres
sit stay (1 minute)
down stay (2 minutes)
õ figure 8 loose lead with at least one sit and one stand within the figure 8
õ finish, as a separate exercise
õ change of position from 2 metres return to your dog
õ dumbbell training Stage 2

õ heel free
õ stand free for exam from at least 2 metres
Graduation: To graduate from Class 4 the dog & handler demonstrates:
õ Heeling on a loose lead including a Figure 8 correct positions.
õ Stand for examination must be steady.
õ Stand stay from 1 metre.
õ Recall from 10 metres return to the dog no finish.
õ Change of position from 1 metre return to the dog exercise finished.
õ Heel free (with verbal encouragement).
õ Stays from at least 12 metres.
o Sit stay (1 minute).
o Down stay (3 minutes)
o Stays must be steady.
Format: For members not intending to compete in Obedience Trials, but still wish to train with their dogs, there is a Fun Class Five. Any member who has graduated from Class Four OR any member, who has participated in Class Four for a period of 3 to 6 months, may consult the Head Instructor to be transferred into the Fun Class. Thereby, you may continue having fun with your dog on Sunday mornings.
