
Class Five (a)
When: Sunday mornings, 9:30 am
Where: PDODC training grounds, Jenkins Reserve, corner Fenden and Saints Rds, Salisbury
Why: This is the Community Companion Dog training class.
Equipment: A good fitting soft collar or slip collar; a gentle leader can be used. A lead that is not too long and made preferably from cotton. A dumbbell. Treats to reward and encourage your dog during training. Remember to not feed your dog before training.
Aims: The aims of this class are to have a dog and handler that:
õ heels on a loose lead
õ stays at a distance of at least 12 metres
sit stay (1 minute)
down stay (2 minutes) return to dog
õ figure 8 loose lead with at least one site and one stand within the figure 8
õ finish as a seperate exercise
õ heels free still using verbal, food or toy encouragement sit and stand within figure 8
õ stands for exam
õ change of position from 3 metres
New
õ retrieve dumbbell on the flat stage 3
Graduation: To graduate from Class 5a to Class 5b, the dog handler must obtain two legs of the Community Companion Dog Title.

Class Five (b)
When: Sunday mornings, 9:30 am

Why: This is the Companion Dog training class and is for handlers who aspire to attain this title with their dog.
Equipment: A good fitting soft collar or slip collar; a gentle leader can be used. A lead that is not too long and made preferably from cotton. A dumbbell. Treats to reward and encourage your dog during training. Remember to not feed your dog before training.
Aims: The aims of this class are to have a dog and handler that:
õ heel free
õ recall from a distance of at least 12 metres
õ stays at a distance of 12 metres
sit stay (1 minute)
down stay (3 minutes)
õ retrieve dumbbell on the flat at a distance of 4 metres
OR
õ change of position from 3 metres
õ stand free examination from at least 5 metres

õ retrieve over solid jump
Format: Training for the Companion Dog Title.
Graduation: To graduate from Class 5b to Class 6, the dog and handler must obtain two legs of their Companion Dog Title.
